I am an Associate Professor of Government at Hamilton College. My research and teaching focus on protest, violence, and state capacity in Latin America. In addition, I have a new research program exploring the determinants of financial inclusion in Latin America. Before academia, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Honduras and worked in the Americas Program at The Carter Center. When I’m not working, you can regularly find me climbing or photographing people climbing, listening to records, or playing old-time fiddle.
